GPON Awards

In 2021, GPON want to recognise and celebrate an oncology nurse from a low/middle income country who has made a difference during the pandemic. We look to honour oncology nurses who have demonstrated compassion, innovation, and strength.

The past 18 months have been some of the most challenging for all nurses. Nurses have gone above and beyond to ensure the patients under their care continued to receive the care they deserved whilst battling the pandemic and whatever other situation that may be apparent in their countries.

This year we are pleased to announce 3 awards:

  • GPON Rising Star award: for nurses in L/MIC’s who are early in their oncology career, but have demonstrated exceptional nursing-related practice, education or leadership.
  • GPON Outstanding contribution to Cancer Nursing in L/MIC award: a project or piece of work which has made a difference in L/MIC or in a region/ area where there is concern
  • GPON Master of Nursing award: for senior nurses who have been working in cancer nursing in L/MIC for some time

These awards are sponsored by the UK Oncology Nursing Society (UKONS).
